Shhh it's a secret: I didn't REALLY cut my hair! It's just hiding from you. :P

What does Key Club mean to you?

SERVICE. After organizing a service project or a fundraiser, I'm happy because so many people have become happier because of Key Club's efforts. Volunteers and organizers can make a world of difference. Key Club is about using our strengths to serve others and bring smiles to their faces.

LEADERSHIP. Often, even though volunteer work isn't difficult and organizing isn't hard, we don't have the motivation to take the first step to help others. In Key Club, we don't just serve; we serve as much as possible, as well as possible. Key Club is about taking the initiative to do good and making the extra effort to go above and beyond.

FRIENDS. By serving together, we bond with the people around us. Key Clubbers join together for the common cause of creating a better world, and in the process, we build friendships along the way. We serve and we lead, but most of all, we CARE. Key Club is about serving together and making caring our way of life.

FUN. What says fun more than an enormous spirit battle at Great America or a weekend with thousands of other Key Clubbers at Convention? We serve, we lead, we care - and we have fun the whole time! Whether we're at a meeting, service project, fundraiser, training conference, or convention, we've got spirit, yes we do. Key Club is about having fun and making the most of our experiences in life.

Why Did You Join Key Club?

(Note: the all words capitalized is meant to emphasize that this question might actually be important ^_~)

Well, I originally joined Key Club because of my brother (Martin/Marty Hu) (aka: that guy who got into Stanford) So basically, every time that he went to a Key Club event, I noticed that he would come back home smiling, and he would usually tell me what happened (Note: this may be personal... but he does NOT tell people what happened if he's sad ^_~... sorry Marty, for exposing your secrets ^_^) This gave me the impression that these things called "Key Club events" might be actually really cool and worth going to. And that is why I joined the Palo Alto Key Club.

What does Key Club mean to you?

To me, Key Club isn't just a community service club; it's become a solid part of my life. At first, I thought of Key Club as just a way to rack up my community service hours, but later I realized that there was so much more to Key Club than that. Key Club is about making a difference in the community, reaching out and spreading awareness, and lending a helping hand to those in need. But that's not all. Key Club is also about meeting a lot of new awesome people and about the amazing experience that people get just from being a part of the club.

Key Club is also a form of happiness. Going to events and helping out always puts a smile on my face because just knowing that I contributed in making a positive change in the community is enough. I also get to spend time with my fellow Key Clubbers at events, and that's always cool.

Yup, I guess I pretty much love Key Club. <34

What's your favorite thing about Key Club?

The people, hands down. The whole club is ABOUT people. You're reaching out to your community, and at the same time, you're meeting the most amazing people ever. You know the quote about uniting people with a common goal? This is it. Everyone is striving for the same thing you are, and you get to meet the coolest people ever that way. Sounds pretty good to me.

What does Key Club mean to you?

At the beginning of the year, I joined Key Club because I wanted to find a way to help out the community. Also, partially because a lot of my sophomore friends, like Kevin and Scott bugged me about joining. At the October DCM, we started to learn chants for the upcoming Fall Rally North. When we started yelling out cheers, I felt left out and awkward. These were people really hyped about Key Club. I just didn’t share the same energy and feeling as them. At Fall Rally North, I finally began to see the big picture. What shocked me most was the amount of Key Clubbers there; Key Clubbers had flown in from Hawaii just to attend the rally. I wondered, “Why would they come here just for a volunteer event?” Then I realized it: it didn’t matter to them how far they had to travel. The spirit of Key Club was giving back to the community with your friends; these Key Clubbers were truly dedicated. From then on, I aspired to be like them.

What does Key Club mean to you?

A perfect solution! You have fun while helping others out. It's a win-win situation. Key Club is a big part of my life, now. I've met a lot of amazing people, from graduated ex-(yet still dedicated!) Key Clubbers to event coordinators. The best part of Key Club is that it keeps you in touch with the world. Not only do you make friends from other districts or schools, you understand that if there is so much help needed from a small community, the world needs so much more.

Shhh it's a secret:

Why did you join Key Club?

I was first introduced to Key Club by my two friends, Hillary Yuan and Tommy Huang. At first, I did not know what key club was about and was not very interested. However, I went because they both seemed so dedicated to this club. After attending my first event, the Mr. Key Club Pageant, I realized how much fun Key Club is. Not only did I have a good time, I made a lot of new friends from different schools that were very nice. To me, Key Club is an organization that brings together the youth in a community and encourages them to help and improve their community. I think the best thing about Key Club is that it's fun, you get to meet new people, and you also get community hours as well.

What do you like about Key Club?

Key Club is more than just a club dedicated to community service. Sure, you may just JOIN for the hours, but once you get involved, you'll find yourself LOVING every aspect of it.

The focus. What can be better than spending your free time fighting for a cause? Whether it's combating poverty by helping out at EHP, acknowledging everyday heroes, reducing global warming by planting trees and saving the bay, or encouraging healthy living at local runs, Key Club makes a difference where it matters most.

The people. At all Key Club events, you are surrounded by people who care and want to BE the change they'd like to see. Key Clubbers are some of the nicest, most dedicated, and hard-working people.

The organization. Key Club's core values of leadership, character building, caring, and inclusiveness sets an example for how everyone should be. Personally, I think it would be easier to ask what I did not like about Key Club. The answer to that question: nothing.

Shhh it's a secret: i'm a canadian.

Why did you join Key Club?

"Why? I'm not even sure why I first joined Key Club. A friend convinced me sometime in February and said I'd get service hours. Thinking that I had to get 100 hours to graduate, I signed up like THAT.

"I still vaguely remember my first meeting (wow I feel old). I always thought Key Club was like, this nerdy club or something. But when I walked in, this guy was telling everybody about a trip to Long Beach for 3 days. It was shocking. I was like, 'Key Clubbers travel together? What? Is it that big?'

"So I decided to go to check it out. Turns out that Key Club is an international club. And it wasn't just like a room with boring people sitting around, it was literally an entire community center packed with 3000 people cheering their heads off and having spirit rallies. Craziest thing of all? These people were only from California, Nevada, and Hawaii, a tiny fraction of the entire organization!!!! Next thing I knew, I was just like everybody else - Key Club crazy.

"And right now, I'm writing this little article telling YOU that Key Club isn't quite what you think...so are you serious about Key Club?"
